Friendly folks and great food!
Try the queso, best in the city!
Service wasn't good! Good was mediocre! I told an employee that the restroom needed toilet paper and paper towels. She told me she was busy. SMH! I won't be going back. This is supposed to be a steak chimichanga!
MoreGreat place! Had the San Marcos steak and wasn't disappointed. The salsa was great! House Margaritas were a good price but nothing special. I recommend getting a side of queso for thr chips and rice.
MoreThe food is okay, typical Mexican restaurant food you can find anywhere the price for the food is terrible because the taste isn’t worth that much nor is the quantity. The beans are bland the quesadilla barely had cheese and fell apart. All the steak I had in it was now on the plate. The salad they give on the side is basic lettuce, tomato and sour cream nothing new. The tortillas aren’t hand made they’re all from packaging. The servers are good they know the menu and are enthusiastic. If you’re only looking for a place to sit I say give this place a try but if you’re looking for good food. Go somewhere else.
MoreEveryone was very friendly and the food was GREAT! We’re here from out of town and haven’t been able to find any good restaurants around Smithfield/Selma but I’m so glad we came here! Reasonable prices and great portions. Wish we’d have stoped here sooner in our trip!
MoreNice place. Rossy, our waitress, was friendly and helpful. She took our order for 5 adults and 5 children. Our tortilla chips baskets and drinks were kept full without asking. Food was tasty and filling. No rush when we were done.
MoreNothing worth talking about. Restaurant decorated nicely.
This is a nice Mexican restaurant. We stopped while on a road trip and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and diverse menu. The guacamole was perfectly seasoned with a perfect proportion of lime and cilantro. The Texas margarita on the rocks was top notch. The Elotes Placero was a nice way to experience Mexican Street corn. The corn cobs were rubbed with mayonnaise, queso fresco and chili powder. Two other styles were available. We also had one barbecue but in future would choose all 3 traditional. I ordered the A.C.C. (arroz con camerones) in a half portion (6 shrimp) which was the perfect sized portion. My husband chose the Casuelon, which was a mixto of grilled chicken, steak and chorizo over grilled onions. My son had the mixed fajitas which were a very generous portion of steak, chicken and shrimp. The flan proved to be the perfect finish to a great meal. The fried ice cream tasted as good as it was pretty in preparation. Definitely recommend!
MoreFood is good and well portioned at a reasonable price. Staff is courteous. Family friendly and not a lot of waiting on food while kids get squirmy.
MoreAbsolutely some of the best I have had! Great food, great service!!!
Food was great hot and hospitality awesome. Authentic food get there if you can. It is reasonably priced
MoreGreat food, atmosphere, and service. My wife and I usually go towards Raleigh for Mexican cuisine. But we now have a good reason head south.
MoreClearly they were not equipped to handle a large crowd. We waited an hour an 10 before we finally got our food. But on the upside the tacos I ordered were delicious 😋
MoreThe food was so delicious! I believe this was the Chorri-Chicken...so good! The wait was not long at all even though they were packed. Had a great time. Will definitely come back!
MoreOh me and my best friend love this place. The food is always delicious. I travel about 20 to eat here on just any given week day. The food is always hot and the staff is always friendly. Reasonably price for Mexican food. This place is a little more friend gathering friendly above all else. The atmosphere is great for just hanging out with a group. If ever in Smithfield NC and want good Mexican food. San Marcos is a must try.
MoreExcellent food, great margaritas. All at extremely good prices. Will come back next time I am in Smithfield.
MoreWeve officially visited every Mexican Restaurant now in the Smithfield Selma Garner areas and this one San Marcos has impressed us a lot. Was a local google guide on another Google account so added a ton of photos knowing I'd be reviewing this Restaurant. Not all Mexican food is hot and spicy, much of it is really great without the spice, like Texas Fajitas, Bean Chicken Beef Anchillottas and others. Look, if you're going out to Mexican and haven't been here yet, it has dim lighting, lots of cultural art, colored textured and toned walls. It's worth a visit. It became our new favorite Mexican Diner and may become yours too!
MoreAlways great food and service. We go here about once a month and have never been disappointed
MoreMy family and I celebrated my daughter's 21 birthday at San Marcos tonight. Our server was Raul who made the occasion all the more memorable. He was attentive and personable. The food as always was excellent! Altogether, the evening was just another reason why San Marcos is a family favorite!
MoreWe always enjoy eating here! Fast, friendly, and tastes so good! 🙂
Awesome food and great service.
The food is good and the service is awesome
Love this place best place to get Texanas all the food is really always good
I came from NY for a visit to NC and wanted some good Mexican food. I ended up at San Marcos...Great food, price is unbeatable, excellent service and fun atmosphere. Loved it
MoreAmericanized "Mexican food" is far and away my favorite cuisine. I have it 2 or 3 times a week and have enjoyed it all over the country when traveling. In my humble opinion, San Marcos is hands down the best for quality, taste, portion size, cost, and dining experience.
MoreThe food was good. The hostess person could have been a little friendlier, but the waitress was good. Loved the atmosphere of the place.
MoreThis was our first time visiting San Marcos, and we loved our food and our server, Melania, was very attentive and helpful! I ordered the A.C. mixito and it was super flavorful. I would definitely recommend it. My husband ordered the burrito Mexicano, which he would recommend. Our kids were so so about their food (tacos de diablo and kids cheeseburger) ...but what do they know?😄 We will definitely return the next time we're in Smithfield.
MoreProbably the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. Great atmosphere, great customer service and pretty big portions. Angel was our server and was super nice and extremely attentive. Would give 10 stars if I could. We will definitely be back.
MorePlace was good, my only complaint was the server. We had to tell him several times for a check and had to tell him at least 2 times what we wanted for dinner. It took 30 plus minutes after we asked for the check for me to get another server to check us out. Overall experience was good and food was good but would recommended servers to be trained to learn to multitask.
MoreThe restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. Staff was friendly and helpful. The food was served timely and the presentation was nice. I had one of the luncheon specials. Chicken with onions and mushrooms covered with cheese, refried beans and rice with corn tortillas. The flavors were great and the beans in a small taco shell was a nice touch. It was a little pricier than other lunch specials but I would go back again.
MoreTook our daughter out for her birthday and randomly chose this place. Glad we did. Food was really good. Not the best Mexican restaurant we've been but definitely a top 5. Unbelievable how the same dish can taste so radically different between restaurants but this place does it right. Nice on the inside as well.
MoreGreat food and the drinks was great too.
So good. The waitress even gave my daughter a quarter for the gum ball machine. I was so happy to hear that they were open even on this Christmas Eve, did not want to cook!
MoreVery, very family-friendly! I observed a waiter picking up a loose ball from the floor to return to a toddler. A waitress was pulling pennies from her apron to share with a little boy at the fountain. As she laid them on the edge, she counted them out in Spanish. He counted in English and then repeated after her. They spent a while discussing the pennies and the fountain before he returned to his family. The food and atmosphere are wonderful. I've never gotten anything I didn't like.
MoreWent to San Marcos on a busy Saturday night. My party was seated as soon as we walked in the door. Our waiter Waldemar was amazing! He got our drinks and food order in immediately. Our food came out fast and it was hot and fresh! Waldemar’s customer service was great, he deserves a raise!! After eating, my cousin and I decided to catch up with each other for a bit and he kept the drinks refilled and entertained us with conversation. Some waiters/waitresses would have rushed us out, but he continued to check in on us and make us feel welcomed. Would definitely recommend!!
MoreDropped in with a friend an hour before closing. Our waiter was friendly and the food arrived promptly. We both ordered quesadillas with a side of rice and beans. I didn't like the cheese used inside the quesadilla, but everything else was enjoyable.
MoreFood is outstanding, salsa is the best I've ever had, service will never fail you, the atmosphere is so inviting, prices are average to other Mexican restaurants, the food comes out fast, my and my family go atleast 3 times a month but as many as 8 times. The bar tending is also outstanding.
MoreGreat experience every single time we go
I ordered a chicken salad it was great. The service was wonderful and the price was extremely reasonable. And I got my order very quickly which I do like.
MoreVery busy but the service was fast. Excellent food. Refried beans aren't the common mashed restaurant style. Excellent salsa with cilantro. Parking is limited.
MoreChanging my rating to 2 stars. Had lunch Pollo Selana today and the chicken was sliced so incredibly thin they must be using a samurai sword to cut it. It was like 2 pieces of luncheon meet for $9. Also flavor was so poor I had to add salt. Salt added to the traditionally saltiest food on the planet? Waitress was also very poor. San Marco's is on my do not go there list. Leaving original review below. Corn tortillas from scratch cooked when you order. Lunch Pollo Selana is really good but too pricey for what you get. Very very small portions. The rice is the only bad thing I've had here; it has these frozen veggies mixed in and no flavor. Ask for double beans instead. Try some enchilada and burrito sauce on the side. Very delicious to dip the chips in. Eat a lot of chips or you will leave hungry at lunch.
MoreWait staff were very nice and attentive. Food was delicious! Best ACP I’ve ever had!
MoreThe food was delicious! Very nicely decorated as well.
Great atmosphere. Modern look as well as great selection on menu. By far, one of the most authentic Mexican restaurants. Excellent table service and food tastes amazing.
MoreThe best place in Smithfield for Mexican food. The services is a plus ,friendly guy attend to me. Him is very faster.Clean place good time
MoreBoth times we've been there we received superb customer service. We enjoyed atmosphere and employees care.Thank you for your attentiveness!
MoreMe and my wife had the best time eating food. This place is beyond pleasurable. It definitely met our expectations. We recommend San Marcos if you have a hunger for some authentic Mexican food. Eli was a great guy.
MoreFood was good
Great restaurant, but I'm not a fan of their salsa. If salsa was better I would go more.
